John V. Blocher
John V. Blocher – (1925-2009)

John Victor Blocher, 84, Chandler, Arizona passed away July 17, 2009. A 32-year resident of Gahanna, Ohio, John was born July 18, 1925 in Boynton, Pennsylvania. Son of the late Victor and Elizabeth (Brown) Blocher.   In 1952, the WWII Navy Veteran and former Drum Major for the Salisbury Community Band, began work as a Civil Engineer, a career that would take him to Silver Bay, Minnesota, to build a taconite plant; Honesdale, Pennsylvania to work with the Army Corps of Engineers on the Dyberry Dam and eventually to Columbus, Ohio to construct the city's modern skyline. In "retirement," John managed the airport's shuttle buses at Port Columbus for 17 years. Passionate about planes and flying, John earned his private license in 1971.

John is survived by his wife, Mary (Lichliter) Blocher. Children: Beverly Ricks, J. Michael and his wife, Laura, Peggy, wife of Jerry Nowicki and Jim.  Brother, Wayne., Sisters Rita, wife of Bill Gray, Vicki, wife of Doug Evangelista and Gail, wife of Tim Klosowski. Grandchildren: Greg, Cara and Dennis Gadel, Matt and Andy Michael, Jonathan Blocher, Nick and Eric Nowicki.
