I'm a Leighliter too, but my family has kept the pronounciation for Leichliter. My great-grandparents were Walter A. Leighliter and Dolly Buttermore. Their children were Linley, King & Waide Leighliter. They lived in or near Connellsville, PA. Linley Leighliter was my grandfather and married Eleanor Frances Davidson. Having a hard time with tracing the Leighliter's before 1859. Help!! This is a great website! I hope I can add the Florida Leighliter's! Melissa Jane Leighliter

My maiden name was Lichliter, I did not find any of what family I know of on the family tree, but I am sure I am related somehow... The earliest ancestory I am aware of was Conrad Lichliter from Germany. Our family ended up settling around Troy, KS and Oklahoma. The website was very interesting, thanks!

What a delight to see this site! My Father is Norman Kirk Leichliter (now age 93), son of Harry Homer Leichliter, whom I believe is one of the sons of Jacob. It's pretty exciting to know the heritage left by the "brothers from Holland", and the variations on our name that have occured over the years! Please feel free to contact me at phil.leichliter@ros.com any time! Best Regards, Phil Leichliter

My maiden name was Litchliter, but I was always told my anescestors had other ways of spelling the name. My great grand father was a Jacob Litchliter and I think his father was Samuel. Jacob lived in Louisiana, but I am unsure of most of the other details. There were eight in my family so there are many Litchliters in Mississippi and Louisiana now! I will tell them about this site!

Hi! I have no idea if I am directly related to your family in PA, but we are probably related somehow. My family and I live in the southwestern corner of Colorado, and have been here for a long time. My uncle Johns family are very intrested in genealogy, and I just thought I would put my last name in a search engine! Thanks.

My great grandmother on my grandfathers side was Almira Lichliter Boucher (Levi Lichliters sister) and my great grandmother on my grandmothers side was Harriet Smith Mier(Sara Smith's sister). My mother made many references to "Uncle Levi" over the years and I have the Harriet Smith family bible. Thank you for such a great website!

My wife, Kaye, and I just recently moved back to Iowa from Arizona and saw the Leichliter web sight and it is very interesting. We are orginally from Iowa but left here in 1956 when I enlisted in the Air Force and stayed in until retirement. Good work on all the information you have listed.

The paths that I have chosen have led me away from our Pennsylvania homeland, and so I am very thankful for tools such as this website and the associated links, which allow me to so easily stay connected to our family.
